Final Round the Rock Partner Announcement - Yachting Sunnies with Barz Optics
The Solo Offshore Racing Club (SORC) is very pleased to announce Barz Optics as our final partner to join us for the inaugural 600nm, SORC Round the Rock Race sponsored by Virgin Media Business.
Barz Optics along with their UK distributor Yachting Sunnies will supply their Nauru sailing model and accessories to each of the competing skippers. John McCurdy OBE, Managing Director of Yachting Sunnies commented “A highly demanding 600nm solo race requires sailors to have the very best in eye protection from the elements." The Nauru has a high wrap frame giving maximum protection to the wearer plus the curved temples follow the contours of the head so won’t slide off when bending over. The curved temples also fit comfortably under a helmet if you find yourselves in a situation where you think you may need to wear one.
Our latest yachting sunglass model – the Cabo are specifically designed for this harsh environment providing photochromic polarized bifocals with the added feature that they if dropped…they float!!”
Nigel Colley, Director at SORC commented “A massive thank you to Yachting Sunnies with Barz Optics for supporting SORC and our seasons headline race. I am sure that all our skippers will be very pleased to receive the Nauru model and give them an intense workout during the race in just over two weeks on July 2nd.”
About Yachting Sunnies and Barz Optics:
Yachting Sunnies is a family business distributing the Barz Optics brand of Australian manufactured sunglasses. Barz Optics was established in 1996 by Kevin Barr - a former surfing champion with 30 years experience in the surf, snow ski and sailboard industries. Kevin began as a retailer then progressed to Manufacturers Agent, representing companies such as; O'Neill wetsuits, Oakley eyewear, Vans shoes, Freestyle watches, Hot Buttered surf products and Creatures of Leisure accessories.
During his years in the surf industry Kevin encountered many surfers and outdoor sports enthusiasts who suffered eye problems caused by prolonged exposure to UV rays, wind, spray and salt. He identified a clear need to provide protection to the eyes for these elements thereby designed robust sunglasses into which prescription lenses could be fitted.
Over the last ten years Barz have expanded their products to include a wide range of unique sunglasses that contain polarized or non-polarized lenses utilizing many different lens material variations. The full range of products is available on the Barz Optics website (www.barzoptics.com) and a selection offered by Yachting Sunnies at www.yachtingsunnies.com.
New products include Melanin infused polarised sunglass lenses available in polycarbonate polarised and polycarbonate polarised photochromic lenses and our latest floating model - the Cabo which includes a photochromic polarized bifocal version.
